Meetings on Fridays from 8.15pm at the Methodist church. Read on to see what sort of things we get up to……
The Friday Thing is the local name for the 1st Harlington Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association. We generally refer to it as TFT. It is a merger of a church youth group and a traditional Boys’ Brigade company. We’ve taken elements of both, which makes for an informal BB company (we take part in local and national BB competitions, have a traditional BB bugle, bell lyre and drum band and base policies such as safeguarding on the ones that the Boys’ Brigade provide).
Our Friday evening meetings vary in nature. Most often we have a gathering game followed by two 30 minute blocks for various activities such as cooking, craft, unihoc, benchball, DIY skills, archery and all sorts of other activities and games aimed at building skills, teamwork and self-confidence. Roughly four times a year we go out for the evening to something like 10-pin bowling, climbing, fireworks or crazy golf. For more information please email us.
We charge just £2 per week (£1 for each additional sibling), although we have to charge extra for trips out.
Camp 2025

Blind folded obstacle course is just one of the many team building games we play
Competitions include a national quiz, table tennis, chess, badminton, first aid and ultimate frisbee.

We were the national 10-pin-bowling BB champions in 2023/24!
In the national BB Masterteam quiz, we came 5th in the whole of the UK&RoI in 2024/25

We have a traditional marching band consisting of drums, bugles, bell lyres and cymbals. We practice most Monday evenings and perform at events such as the village Remembrance Day parade, Lower School fayre and the Santa Parade at Woburn Center Parcs:

Every two or three years we join with other companies for a tour, including Scotland and the NW of England. The next tour is in October 2026 to the First World War battle fields. There is no additional charge for being in the band; tuition and uniform is free.
